Limitations of items stylesheets
When styling an individual item, there are some drawbacks to consider:
- If you want to make changes to the style of multiple items you will need to upload the modified stylesheets individually to each item
- While technically you can use remote resources such as background pictures or custom fonts, you have to consider that they are perhaps not available during the exam. This applies when you run TAO on an intranet without an internet connection or when your firewall sets certain restrictions. Often, such resources are therefore stored in the item directly. As a result, they will be downloaded along with every item and can cause considerable overhead, resulting in performance degradation.
In the TAO Enterprise edition, stylesheets are usually attached to deliveries rather than individual items to overcome these issues. This is not possible in TAO Ignite.
