Introduction to RTL in TAO

Like most assessment platforms developed in Europe, TAO was originally designed for use with European languages. Because these are all written from left to right (LTR), this meant that TAO’s user interface only needed to be unidirectional.

As interest in digital assessment platforms spread to a global level, however, the need became apparent to accommodate languages written from right to left (RTL), such as Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Urdu. As a result, the TAO platform now offers a RTL interface, so that assessments can be both created and run in RTL mode. In other words, TAO users have the option of reading and writing in right-to-left mode.
