Looking at the Task Type CONNECT

Differentiating between the interactions available for task ORDER

The following question is addressed in this section: if you want to construct a test question which presents your candidates with an ORDER task, how do you decide between the interactions available?

The LANGUAGE differentiator

The main difference between the two main interactions available for the task ORDER is the way in which the possible responses are presented: for Order interactions, they are presented in text form, whereas for Graphic Order interactions they are presented using an image.

Indeed, when we plot the two interaction types on the LANGUAGE spectrum as follows:

We can see that they are located at opposite ends. This gives us an indicator when choosing between the two main interactions for a particular test question of the type ORDERING.

To sum up, whether you want a language-based question or not will probably be the most important factor in your choice of interaction.
