Where to configure scoring methods in TAO?

Item and test scoring methods need to be configured before the test is delivered to test-takers.

Methods involving the scoring of test items can be configured under Response Processing in the Response Properties when creating the test item. When configuring items for automatic scoring, select the option Match correct if you don't wish to award partial credit for partially correct answers, or Match response if you do. See the chapter on Scoring items automatically  in the User Guide section on Scoring for more information on how to configure these scoring methods. Items can be configured for manual scoring under Outcome Declarations in the Response Properties when creating the test item by selecting Human in the drop-down menu of the External Scored box.  See the chapter on Scoring items manually  in the User Guide section on Scoring for more information on how to configure this scoring method.

Methods involving the scoring of tests can be configured under Outcome processing in the Test Properties when you are setting up your test: clicking on the button Scoring will open the relevant part of the properties panel. For a simple tally of item scores, select Total score. Enter a value in the weight box of the relevant items to assign different weights to them.  Select Cut score to award a pass/fail, and enter the cut-off point to be used in the Cut Score box. Select Custom to define your own scoring rules. To weight items in a test, a weight must be added to each individual item under Weights in the item properties panel when you're creating the test. See the chapter on Scoring tests  in the User Guide section on Scoring for more information on how to configure these scoring methods.
