Thinking About Test Questions (and Choosing Interactions) According to Task Type
An example of a RTL test delivery
Because Ahmed’s interface language has been specified as Arabic, when he logs in to take the test deliveries for which he is eligible the TAO test environment will appear in Arabic, in RTL mode.
The image below shows the screen which he would see. In this case, there is just one delivery for which he is eligible - a test on the capital cities of countries in the Arab world.
A delivery in RTL
The test being delivered asks the test-taker for the names of capital cities. In the image below you will recognise the first question, which contains the multiple choice question we used as an example earlier, asking the test-taker to select the choice corresponding to the name of the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
The first item of the RTL delivery
As you can see, it is not only the test item which appears in Arabic: the blue navigation bar at the bottom (where he can click on the option to go to the next item in the test), and the logout button on the black bar at the top, also appear in the interface language chosen.
In addition to this, all instructions and messages given to the test-taker during the test (such as modal feedback, and the information in the review panel) will appear in the language which has been specified as the interface language.
Note: As is the case for item authors, the test-taker’s computer will need to be configured to write Arabic (or any other RTL language specified) before they can sit tests in that language.
